Graduate Program in Taxation LL.M.

In today's world, tax issues are inescapable, increasingly complex and constantly changing. The tax program draws upon Miami's unique location – the pivot point between S. America, N. America and Europe – to bring the region's diverse perspectives and career-building opportunities to students.

Miami Law's tax program and courses focus on building a better tax lawyer who develops the "tax sense" necessary to resolve tax problems with confidence, which is evident in our excellent career outcomes.

Unique International Perspective

The Tax LL.M. program offers many thought-provoking, cutting-edge courses on international tax topics.  Students can choose the International Tax Concentration option by taking international tax electives.

The LL.M. in Taxation of Cross-Border Investment, is aimed at students with foreign law degrees, focuses on international tax issues, and can be completed online.

Strong Course Options

The program offers strong foundational courses to give students a robust understanding of fundamental tax subjects.  Electives build on concepts to tackle increasingly complex issues.  These give students an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of specific areas of interest.  In particular, the program offers a stellar selection of in-depth courses on international tax topics, and a stand-out series of courses that focus on representing high net worth individuals.

Recent course additions include:

  • Tax Issues relating to Cryptocurrency and Blockchain
  • The New International Tax Consensus: OECD's "Pillar One" and "Pillar Two" Proposals

Courses on Representing Wealthy Individuals

The program offers in-depth courses that address the tax issues of wealthy individuals, preparing students for a tax practice that focuses on individual tax issues, including multi-generational wealth transfer and international tax. A capstone course on Representing High Net Worth Individuals synthesizes multiple different tax areas at a high level.
